Instead, the fluid goes through powerful machines that shred solids into tiny particles before it reaches the sea. In other words, flushing your pet fish down the toilet will not send them safely into the ocean as depicted in the movie.

In fact, if Nemo did survive the deadly machines, he would likely be killed by the chlorine disinfection process that follows. This makes the idea of finding Nemo in the wild even more unlikely.

This humorous take on the situation is reminiscent of a joke about a kitten being held at gunpoint and the absurdity of selling a pistol to a goldfish for a signed statement saying that the kitten would get to eat the goldfish after it committed suicide. Similarly, the idea of flushing your pet fish down the toilet and expecting them to end up in the ocean is a comical notion.
